SEGMENT: BEACH PARTY SURFING MOVIES 1963-1965

I was asked to assist in special projects for upcoming motion picture productions. One production was working on a project with the Surfing entertaining group 'Dick Dale and The Del Tones'. Most of their musical involvement was playing surfing music on the beach. When they were playing on the sand the insurance company did not cover and liabilities with mike and speaker wires in the sand. So, having worked with the beginning of music transmitting, I created a small FM transmitter for each performer and installed a FM high quality receiver for capturing all the music during a particular shoot. It worked fine and no one even knew of the installing of the transmitters and receivers on or about the guitars.

Another movie that I was privileged to assist on was Dunwich Horror in 1969. The movie starred Sandra Dee and Dean Stockwell as the top two billing stars.

Because I was not in the entertainment Unions, I was occasionally asked to perform special duties regarding research on plots and special effects.

Luree's Father who was co-owner of AIP Picures asked me to read the Dunwich Horror movie script and read and investigate all the details regarding the subject of the movie, 'The Druids' and the 'Witches Book Of Shadows'. I did not know what I was getting involved with at the time and would have never repeated that involvement with those Esoteric ventures. After researching The Book Of Shadows and interviewing both 'White' and 'Black Wicca's for several weeks I had to place burning candles around my bed all night that was advised from a top Psychic friend of mine, very spooky!

And just for the a reason to hang out with all the Beach Party performers, Sallie and I danced in one Beach Party movie, was exciting and fun. Next are some Beach Party photo snaps I took during more than one filming.

In the Beach Party Movie are Annette Funicello, Frankie Avalon, Meredith MacRae plus others. Sallie spent with time with Luree and Annette and I occasionally with Frankie. AIP was reviving motion pictures by bringing back celebrities from the past, i.e. Boris Karloff, Peter Lorre, Rory Calhoun, Vincent Price, Buster Keaton and many many others over the years.
