SEGMENT: BURT REYNOLDS AND BURT'S PLACE RESTAURANT
Our Documentor Sales force in Newport Beach, California had sold POS devices to Burt Reynolds for his 'Burt's Place' Restaurant in Atlanta in the Omni Center.
Burt was concerned the opening would not go as planned and called and asked who was responsible for his food and bar POS computers.
Burt was directed to me because I had written out the design for his application. I chatted with Burt for a while and he insisted that I install the equipment and remained for the opening with a restaurant full of celebrities, too many to list.
I received approval and flew to Atlanta for a couple of days prior to the restaurant opening. The Restaurant was unique in layout and design. There were all the sections in a large circle raised up from the floor with each one given a name for a famous motion picture like Gone with the wind as one example. The opening went fine except I had to go out and buy ice cubes because they didn't order enough for the opening.
Burt and I communicated throughout the first few months to make sure all processing was working properly and then occassiona chats in the later years.
