SEGMENT: SALLIE AND THE PORSCHE

SEGMENT: THE BEACH AT SANTA MONICA AND CELEBRITIES

Sally and her girlfriend Nora asked me and friend Walt to go to the beach in Santa Monica. I had never been there so it sounded like fun. We arrived and joined a bunch of friends. We sat in front of a fire pit and everyone was chatting. Pretty soon a guy walked up to Sallie and said hello. She responded and turned to me to introduce me to the Sal Mineo! I was shocked. He was in the soon to be released "Rebel Without A Cause". We recently saw him in the movie "The Giant".

SEGMENT: SALLIE AND MY 1955 SUPER PORSCHE SPEEDSTER

After meeting some of Sallie's friends we went over to Toluca Lake to meet a friend from her church. Bob Hope lived almost next door. The friend recently purchased a 1955 Porsche Speedster. He invited us for a ride and we sped down Riverside Drive at a high speed and the Porsche handled perfectly. The Porsche was a convertible and Sallie and I sat in the back seats. The wind was blowing at us like crazy. We soon drove back to the friend's house. His Father informed him of his acceptance at a University and he would have to give up the Porsche he recently purchased. I asked how much he wanted. He said what he paid for it because it was a special model he had shipped from Germany. The price was $2,700.

Sallie and I talked about the Porsche to buy but I didn't have enough money saved up, I had just taken a new job and hardly any savings. Sallie said she had some savings and she would loan me the down payment. So, the next few days we went to the local bank and borrowed the rest of the money from Sallie's $300 she gave me for the down payment.

I loved the Porsche and I was one of the few persons I knew that didn't even know what a Porsche was. There was a practice racing track at the Paramount Ranch in the Santa Monica Mountains in Agoura Hills in California.

Several of my friends went there to practice racing around the track for fun. Even Professional racers showed up occasionally to practice for an upcoming race. I was very slow to learn but eventually I started to win simple races with simple cars. Sally loved to drive the Porsche with a hat on her blonde hair with her pony tail out the back of the hat, her pony tail would lay straight out in back. The Porsche had a stick shift but that didn't bother Sallie after a while.

Sallie went to Burbank high school with many celebrities. Sallie's Sister Vivian went to school with Debbie Rynolds.
